Surprise

I occasionally write poetry, heres one that I've written recently

I am one person

to the world i’m small

to me i’m average

to you i cant recall

Theres always that story

happily ever after

will it come to me

or will it never show

That one person 

we talk about them

we dream about them

we live for them

I meet so many people

none seem to compare

to my criteria

but one will break the rules

When that one comes

i’ll know in my heart

my dream has come true

and i cant hold back

I’m falling fast

no control

but i like the feeling

the intensity in your soul

We connect somehow

in a strange way

it feels so different

something i cant convey

When i know i know

the deep nerves tingling

my heart pounding

the reason for my being

I never want this to go away

this feeling

i want it to stay with me

forever

Your the one

i just realized

your who i trust

with all my heart

i can say those words

a million times

but they’ll never explain

my true feelings

Visual Diary

The visual diary serves a few purposes for the artist. It can provide new subject matter for artworks that describe where you've been, while at the same time forcing you to slow down during your everyday rituals to see the often overlooked beauty that exists around you. Everything has a potential to become a part of your work. This is my next project that I will be working on in art for the next month or so. In this artwork I'll take about five things from my visual diary and put them together in a composition draw in charcoal. The drawing I will create will become a type of portrait describing how I see the world, where I go, and what I've noticed along the way. The way the imaged is composed will be judged on the following concepts. focal point- element in a drawing that pulls in the viewer's eye, that is the center of attention or the main subject. rule of thirds-  divide a canvas in thirds both horizontally and vertically, and place the focus of the painting either one third across or one third up or down the picture, or where the lines intersect. variety of scale- a difference or contrast of the objects in a work of art and the empty space surrounding shapes or solid forms in a work of art. overlapping- the process of putting an object on top of another blocking view of the object in a work of art. And also arranging elements to lead the eye which means to arrange the objects in a certain way that's intriguing and draws attention and makes people want to explore the work of art. This project should take a while and make a little bit of a mess. The true power of a successful picture lies in the combination of a strong subject matter and a strong composition. What you leave out can be just as important as what you leave in. "The artist's job is to be a witness to their time in history."-Robert Rauschenberg.

One Masterpiece Finished!!

Wow, this piece of artwork took me so long, it was almost unbearable. It came out perfect, just like I thought it would. Please comment on what you think. Its finally done and I'm glad to show everyone. Thank you for reading :)

Beauty of The Land

Today in History class, we watched a movie about Lewis and Clark, and their expedition across the new America. It's a documentary, not entirely a film, with many pictures and small clips. In the background the narrator described how immaculate the land that Lewis and Clark had seen, they beauty of the land. They described how much of a paradise it was, with the new wild life and never-ending hills through the horizon. I made my imagination go wild. I thought of what I would see if I were them, just pure magnificence. It got into my head of how I could paint or draw one of those scenes of endless hills and exotic wildlife. It may be difficult but it sure would come out amazing. I'm thinking of starting a sketch of a scene and using colored pencil to make it come to life. When the movie showed some pictures of what they could have seen, I was stunned at the beauty, it just overtook me. I want to make a masterpiece somewhat representing that if I were an explorer for another country and I was hired to go explore unknown territory that no one has discovered before, what would see and find. Lost Things

In my art class this year I know that I will do countless projects and use many materials. But one thing we are assigned to throughout the semester is a sketchbook. We had to make a sketchbook cover in the first few weeks that we started. We had to pick a quote and use magazine and construction paper to create a collage that represented that quote. I used the quote "All true artists, whether they know it or not, create from a place of no-mind, from inner stillness." by Eckhart Tolle. In the backround I created a palate with different colors of paint on it and a paintbrush going across it. The back round behind that starts off purple on the top and fades to red at the bottom.

Now, what this title is supposed to mean is what the instructions of the sketchbook told me that I could do. All of the pages in this sketchbook are free sketch, meaning I can draw almost anything that I would want inside it. There was also a note towards the bottom of the instructions that said, "If you can pick it up, glue it into your diary" The reason it says diary is because my teacher considers these to be Visual Diaries, which are places that people can record ideas and inspirations for future artworks. I liked the idea of being able to glue stuff into it. So I thought of an idea of another collage I could do on the inside. I named it "Lost Things". So I went home and started looking through my drawers. I found beads, buttons, rings, bracelets, charms, jewels, and some other stuff I thought would look interesting. To begin, I took as much different colored construction paper and cut it into pieces and scattered it around the page to make it colorful. I then used string to spell out the word "lost" and beads to spell out "things". Then my final touch was glueing all the little items that I found and scattering them all around to make it look like a box or a drawer that had lost things in it. I feel that it turned out really well and everyone I showed it to was impressed. It's only one of the 20 or so pages in this sketchbook and I'm looking forward to making more masterpieces such as these. Thank you for reading :)

Stippling (cont.)

Hi everyone, I'm still working hard on my stippling artwork, hoping to finish it within the next few weeks so I can show everyone. I've actually come to liking stippling even though most people find it very annoying and are over it within a certain amount of time. I find it very intriguing because I've never really used it in artwork before and trying new things that can make my artwork look different and interesting is amazing. I should also show on here what I've created for my current boyfriend. He lives in Michigan and is a Detroit Red Wings fan and requested a drawing of Al the Octopus which is their mascot. He requested a picture of Al holding 11 of their Stanley Cups and the dates that they were won on them with Al in a Red Wings jersey. It was a task I knew I could do but would take some work to finish. For all of you Red Wings fans out there, this may seem like I traced and didn't actually draw this, but I solemnly swear that I took the images from the Internet and drew them freehand, never did I trace a single line on that paper. :) If you don't believe me then ok thats fine, you can do what you feel like and say what you want. Stippling

If your wondering what the heck that word means, its actually a technique in art used to shade parts of artwork. I works mostly using a ink pen, preferably a liquid ink one, and you use tiny little dots over and over to make a light to dark transition. It takes a massive amount of time to just finish one little space on the paper, but it comes out looking just amazing. I'm currently working on my own stippling masterpiece. I've gotten many compliments on it so far, but I still have a little ways to go. When I finish, ill be sure to post a picture of it on here for everyone to see. The way I learned this technique was in my art class in school. We started a project that involved cubism. Which is a style of artwork pioneered by Pablo Picasso and George Barque. In cubist artworks objects are broken up, analyzed, and re-assembled in an abstract form-instead of depicting objects from one viewpoint, the artist depicts the subject from the multitude of viewpoints to represent the subject in a greater context. In my project in class, I had to pick an object from home, any object. I picked a silly silly bobble head turtle that was sitting on my desk for fun. I then had to draw it on 3 sheets of paper from three different angles using only contour lines, which are the visible lines that you can see, no shading. After I did that, I would choose one of the drawings and take the two others and trace them onto that 1 drawing to make them overlap. With that being done, the drawing should've created a cubist look with different objects overlapping to create new shapes and perspectives. The final process is to stipple every little detail on the page to make it fool the eye like a cubist drawing would. I'm also still working on this masterpiece in class and will post a picture of it on here as well. Thank you for reading :)

Hello everyone, I'm here to pursue my dreams. One of my main goals is to pursue is to receive a job where I can show my artistic talents. On this blog I'll tell the readers about my advances in art, what new techniques I've learned, and I'll post as many pictures of works of art that I've finished and feel confident in.
